At times, it seems obvious that our students are not doing so well at using a pencil and paper. Low-tech changes can make a difference sometimes, but often a critical question arises, “When is it time to try typing?” When you get to that question, more questions come up! What devices do we consider? Is digital writing going to be better and faster for this student? This session will look at some of these basic questions and help identify potential paths to take when considering replacing the pencil as the primary method of written output.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Participants will learn how to critically analyze different alternative pencils including the potential benefits and drawbacks to each intervention.
  2. Participants will identify strategies for implementing the intervention ideas to maximize success.
