Seating and mobility assessments can be complex and intimidating. This one-hour session will cover the basics of a seating and mobility assessment using evidence based and best practice standards. We will discuss questions which you should be asking in an initial interview, and move on through the process of a physical assessment (MAT assessment). Finding some of the language intimidating? We will focus on clear and simple explanations of the standard language you might hear (and use!) in the assessment process. Finally, we will spend some time discussing what critical information should be included in a report of your findings.

Learning outcomes:

  1. Participants will be able to describe the key components of a seating and mobility assessment;
  2. Participants will understand the steps required to complete a physical assessment;
  3. Participants will be able to define key terms for describing assessment findings; and
  4. Participants will be able to describe the critical information to include in an assessment report.
